APPLICATION:
This rapid test can be used for test of transfusion safety on emergency, or as an aid in diagnosis of HCV infection.
Most rapid diagnostic tests for detection of HCV antibodies suffer low sensitivity. The reason is, after HCV antigen is labeled with colloidal gold, its reactivity with HCV antibody is weakened rapidly. So, indirect method has to be used. Colloidal gold-anti human IgG conjugate or colloidal gold-protein A conjugate is coated on the glass fibre membrane, and HCV Ag is coated on the test line of nitrocellulose membrance. HCV antibodies in samples react with gold-anti human IgG conjugates or gold-protein A conjugates on membrane. The complex moves forward and reacts with pre-coated antigens, resulting in a visible color line. This method is low in specificity and sensitivity.

This method has a much higher sensitivity.
